Safetac Technology:
- Minimizes trauma to the wound on removal:
- Safetac layer has a perforated design that allows exudate from the wound to pass into the absorbent pad. The hydrophobic Safetac layer keeps the wound surface separated from the absorbent pad. This prevents the pad from sticking to the moist wound
- Helps maintain a moist wound environment:
- The hydrophobic Safetac soft silicone layer actually floats on a moist wound bed. This prevents the wound from drying out and helps maintain a moist wound environment
- Minimize risk of maceration:
- The soft silicone layer seals around the wound, forcing the exudate to pass into the absorbent pad, thereby deterring the exudate from leaking onto the surrounding skin
- Leaves no residue:
- This saves time at dressing changes and contribute to making dressings with Safetac cost-effective
- Adheres gently to the surrounding skin without traditional adhesives:
- The Safetac silicone layer is extremely soft and flows over the uneven surface to create a large effective contact area with the skin. As a result, less adhesion force per square millimeter is needed, compared with traditional dressings, to create the same level of fixation
- Eliminates stripping of epidermal cells:
- Since the adhesion threshold is reached before the stripping threshold, no stripping of epidermal cells will occur under dressings with Safetac, even after repeated use. This prevents damage to the skin barrier
